In 2011 The Edgewater adopted a recycling program. Our goal for the first year was to reduce our solid waste by 40%. We are pleased to announce that we exceeded our goals by reaching close to 60% of recycled solid waste. We have two types of waste receptacles in each unit. The white receptacle with a recycling decal is designated for single stream recycling. There are waste and recycling stations in several locations on the property. Our goal is to increase solid waste recycling to 75% through the improvement of our participation rate.
Our Future Goals for The Edgewater:
Reduce the amount of industrial chemicals used on our property and replace them with efficient and natural alternatives. We have already replaced most of our in room cleaning supplies and amenities with certified green cleaning products. We are now focusing our efforts on the swimming pool and the laundry facility. There are excellent processes, such as ionizers, ozone systems and salt that can substantially reduce the use of industrial chemicals while improving the quality and safety for our guests.
Continue to improve energy efficiency through conservation without sacrificing the comfort of our guests.
